My Root Cellar
This is my root cellar. Not much to look at I know. It is actually my well room that sits right off my basement. Last year the landlord had spray insulation put on the walls to help seal in the room after I had caulked the room and painted sealer on the walls. This still gets pretty cool inside which makes it perfect for a root cellar.
Nothing fancy. It holds my three things of potatoes (one is hiding under the onions), one bag of onions from a local producer (my onions were a little puny this year), and yellow squash from friends of mine. This room was storage for my tote lids that I was not using. Since I haven’t found a good place to put them yet, they sit here too.
I have big plans for this room. I would like to put shelves in this room to hold more. If I get my pantry shelves built in my kitchen, one of those shelving units can go down here. They would be absolutely perfect. Otherwise, I will be scouting garage sales to see what I can find. I am also hoping that I will have more to put into the pantry. I want to grow more potatoes, try sweet potatoes, and have more onions, zucchini, and summer squash!
Don’t mind the bucket of water in the picture in the picture. Next year, I want to seal the lid to the well room. That would stop the drips of water coming through the lid and through the insulation.
This is the start of the house tour. I will be posting more as the weeks go on!
Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
