How Can I Prep? I Have No Money!

How Can I Prep? I Have No Money!

I have written before about prepping with little or no money. Prepping with no money takes some creativity, some patience, and some planning. However, I still hear things like:

“I wish I could do what you do, but I don’t have the money.”
“I don’t have the money for all that stuff!”
“I don’t have the time for that and I can’t pay for it so I don’t do it.”

Money is nice when prepping, but money can only get you so far. Money doesn’t teach you skills or how to be creative with your resources. Money doesn’t get you in shape or do the work for you. Money doesn’t make plans, inventory, or lists.

If and when something happens, money might buy the goods and grease a few palms. But, at the end of the day, only you can survive and thrive.

Only you can do the work to get through the day and provide for your family. Only you can take care of yourself and your family. Only you can make the decision and use your resources wisely. Only you can make the plans and implement them.

Prepping is physical, mental, and spiritual. Prepping is an attitude and a way of life. Prepping is not about money, but being able to take care of yourself and your family. If you think money is going to be what you need to take you through a crisis, you are not going to be around long. Learning to survive without money and live on your resources will help you in the long run.

Getting a prepper mentality and attitude will help you understand that money will not save you.

Don’t get me wrong, money is nice to have. Money will buy you some nice equipment to help you in certain situations. Deep down, however, you will need yourself, your skills, your community, your work ethic, and your creativity more than you will need money.

Ask a prepper if he is ever done prepping. The answer will be no. Always tweaking, always getting more, or doing more. Ask him if he bought his gear and supplies all at once. The answer will be no. They bought it over several years, making sacrifices, bartering/trading, and doing what he could otherwise in the meantime.

Don’t let money be the roadblock to your prepping. It is only an excuse and not a very good one either. If you really want to prep, dig deeper and learn more.
