Welcome to Living Life in Rural Iowa
Hi, I’m Erica!
Welcome if you are new here. If you are visiting again, thank you for coming back.
When I started this website, I was a single mom of four trying to keep ahead of the ball game. Now, my kids are grown up and on their own. I also have three sons-in-law and five grandkids. Life is still busy! I do have a significant other, Rob, and you will hear about him from time to time.

I talk and write about being prepared, saving money, living frugally, and living a simpler life. I am passionate about helping everyone learn to be self-sufficient through raising chickens, gardening, and preserving food. Sometimes I get off-topic, but I keep it pretty chill here. I like to be practical and actionable with my tips and advice.

I love spending time with loved ones, gardening, being outside in the summer, reading books, doing needlework, and tackling my never-ending list of projects. I am passionate about people raising their own food. I love taking worthless items and making them worth something again. I love living in the country and never want to live in town again.
Thank you for visiting! It means a lot to me and I want to share what I know, what I am learning, and my mistakes with you all so you can learn along with me. Please feel free to comment, ask questions, share posts, and let others know about Living Life In Rural Iowa.
